Netherlands to Boost Ukraine’s Defence with Drone Production Investment

The Netherlands has confirmed a major investment in drone production to support Ukraine’s defence efforts. This funding is part of a broader commitment from the Dutch government to assist Ukraine as it continues to resist Russian aggression.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof discussed this investment with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a recent meeting. He confirmed that the Netherlands would provide a financial package worth hundreds of millions of euros, with a significant portion allocated to Ukraine’s domestic drone production. The initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defence industry while enhancing its ability to counter Russian attacks.

Schoof reassured Zelensky that the Netherlands remains committed to supporting Ukraine politically, militarily, and financially. The two leaders also discussed cooperation with international partners and the development of a joint plan to ensure a just peace.

Since the start of Russia’s full scale invasion, the Netherlands has provided Ukraine with €6 billion in military aid. This support has included advanced air defence systems, artillery, and other critical equipment. The Netherlands has also played a key role in supplying Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, which are expected to significantly enhance the country’s air capabilities.
