Russian Regiment Commander, Officers Killed in Strike on Command Post in Kursk (Video)

A Ukrainian precision strike has devastated a key Russian command post in the Kursk region, further exposing the Kremlin’s deteriorating grip on the battlefield and the mounting cost of continuing its unprovoked war. On the evening of 11 April at approximately 17:15, a HIMARS missile barrage hit the forward command base of Russia’s 30th Motorised Rifle Regiment (Unit 72162) in the village of Guvo, Kursk region.

Reports from Russian sources confirm that the strike killed at least seven Russian personnel, including the deputy regimental commander, a senior communications officer, and members of the reconnaissance company. Colonel Shepiten, the regiment’s commander, was among four others wounded in the attack. Despite repeated prior drone and missile assaults in the region, Russian forces failed to relocate or camouflage the site — a costly oversight.

The strike was carried out with surgical precision by troops of Ukraine’s elite 82nd Air Assault Brigade, who also repelled an attempted Russian armoured assault in the same area. Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian tank, three armoured personnel carriers, and two improvised Chinese-made golf carts repurposed for frontline use — a symbol of the increasingly improvised nature of Russian ground operations. Survivors reportedly fled without attempting a second assault.

Though Ukrainian troops have tactically withdrawn from certain villages like Suja, ongoing precision operations in Kursk continue to demonstrate Kyiv’s capacity to strike effectively while avoiding heavy losses. The message is clear: Ukraine may retreat tactically, but it never yields strategically.

Elsewhere, Ukraine’s renowned 72nd Mechanised Brigade, nicknamed the “Black Zaporizhians,” continued to inflict heavy losses on Russian forces. In a major confrontation in March 2025, the brigade neutralised a significant Russian mechanised assault, destroying 13 vehicles — including three tanks and four Akhmat armoured trucks — and eliminating approximately 40 enemy combatants.

This victory was made possible through a combination of advanced aerial reconnaissance, artillery support, FPV drones, and newly donated electronic warfare systems. The latter, gifted by communities and businesses in the Kyiv region, included jamming and drone defence systems worth ₴14 million (approximately £280,000). These tools helped neutralise over 100 Russian drones in recent weeks.

Ukrainian Military Operations (March–April 2025) Results
Kursk Strike on 30th Regiment (11 April) 7 KIA, 4 WIA, command post destroyed
82nd Brigade Vehicle Destruction 1 tank, 3 APCs, 2 golf carts eliminated
72nd Brigade Engagement (March) 3 tanks, 4 armoured trucks, 40 KIA
Russian Drones Neutralised Over 100
Kyiv Region Support Donation Value ₴14 million (£280,000)

Despite Russian propaganda portraying Ukrainian forces as brutal, testimonies from civilians in occupied regions paint a different picture. Residents acknowledge receiving essential aid — including nappies, baby powder, and life-saving medical help — from Ukrainian troops. One woman even credited Ukrainian medics with saving her daughter’s life during childbirth.

In contrast, the same civilians, while previously helped by Ukraine, now publicly denounce them in interviews — reflecting the manipulative pressure often exerted by Russian occupation forces on locals to spread disinformation.
