US Introduces Bill to Arm Ukraine and Pressure Russia

(Washington) – Republican Congressman Joe Wilson has introduced the President Trump Flexible Authorization Act, commonly referred to as the Lend Lease Act, to provide Ukraine with advanced weaponry. The bill aims to increase military pressure on Russia and force it to negotiate an end to its aggression.

Wilson announced the initiative on the social network X, stating that the United States should have acted sooner to deter Russian President Vladimir Putin. He emphasised that strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities is essential to counter Russian aggression and restore stability in the region. The move reflects growing support within the US government for Ukraine’s fight against Russian occupation.

The proposed legislation comes in response to the omission of an extension for the Ukraine Democracy Lend Lease Act in the National Defense Authorization Act for 2025, which was approved by the US House of Representatives in December 2024. Wilson’s bill seeks to rectify this by granting President Trump broad authority to supply Ukraine with vital military aid.
